The Travellers Joy is a family friendly traditional Public Freehouse known for its real ales and cosy community atmosphere.
Offering one of the best choices of cask ale on the island, this long-standing old country inn was the Island's first beer exhibition house. Up to five varied and interesting ales rotate with the Wight Gold, Rev James and Old Peculier. A good range of home-cooked food is served lunchtimes and evenings. The pub is a thriving venue for real ale followers, the local community and visitors seeking a friendly and amenable base.
Lovely Saturday night steak meal. You may need to prebook a table for this meal. Very reasonably priced meals and drinks. Very friendly helpful staff, outside seating
Saturday Steak night - fresh steak cooked perfectly on a generous plate of food, extremely good value, excellent hosts - made for a very pleasant evening. Recommend you try it and bring your dog too
Absolutely fantastic traditional pub with a large beer garden, play area for kids and 2 pool tables. Serving a large choice of well kept pump beers, lagers, spirits and wines. Decent selection of hot and cold food in generous portions. Dog friendly too. Highly recommended.
A fantastic CAMRA pub with a warm welcome from Pete & Sam. Fantastic for families and individuals alike. We went on recommendation one lunchtime and then booked in for Sunday Lunch as well. The food is fantastic and we could happily sit there all afternoon, drinking and playing games. A must if you are looking for a great meal out or just a drink.
Nice dog and human friendly pub. Dogs were given treats on our second visit. The local ales from the island are good value at £3.50 a pint. Timothy Taylors Landlord is however overpriced at £4.70! Food was excellent. Generous portions and good value. I tried the home made soup with freshly baked roll and home made croutons, large fish and chips (skins on), peas (not mushy), salad garnish, and slice of lemon/tartare sauce. Highly recommended just for a drink or a meal/drink.
